About Me

Heal your mind, heal your life

Welcome

Hi. I’m Karin. Its wonderful to meet you.

I am a psychotherapist in Byron Bay, Australia. Let me start by saying that you can heal your life. Having walked that path, I’m inspired to support you on a journey of transformation…

Conflicts, challenging life circumstances and all difficult things literally shake up our world and invite us to interact with life in new ways. These transitions often uproot us, sometimes in ways we aren’t prepared for or don’t want to deal with. Yet these roadblocks can lead you to yourself, and even though this can be painful and difficult to navigate, once you move through them, you’ll appreciate they facilitated your growth as a person. To heal from major life challenges, we need to change our thoughts and belief systems to allow for new ways of responding and experiencing life. For nothing really changes, until you do.

For 18 years, I had the privilege of working in international humanitarian operations for the United Nations. I was witness to enormous global trauma and I experienced my own. Unraveling the knots in my psyche was a bewildering journey, as I had no clue how to heal my mind. Ultimately it was a lonely pathway, a journey that no one should walk unsupported and alone.

Recovery was a life-changing experience which deeply shaped me as a person – to support others in addressing their mental health challenges, so they too can welcome happiness back into their world.

I will support you to become aware of what’s in the way of living the life you wish to live. Using a range of therapeutic tools and techniques, I guide you to address and heal painful thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs, behaviours and life experiences, so you can make peace with your past. The unfolding process of innate wisdom within you is what ultimately leads the way. This is an inner journey, and by looking within and cultivating an awareness of how you currently function in the world, you have the potential to heal all aspects of your life.

Sometimes the hardest step in recovering from life’s challenges can be reaching out for support. I appreciate just how challenging it can be to recover from deeply impactful events, and I welcome you to call or reach out for more information.

I work with private clients from a range of sectors including international organisations, government and non-government organisations, the arts, media, and service industries.

I am a registered [PACFA] and certified [post-graduate] trauma-informed psychotherapist with additional qualifications in coaching [New York] and energetic healing [UK]. I am a practitioner of Havening and Emotional Freedom Techniques that are particularly helpful in deregulating an activated nervous system. I hold a Masters in Applied Science, and will soon to complete post-graduate qualifications in Psychology.

Testimonies

Karin, I am so grateful for you and every session we had together! I cannot thank you enough for your patience and support. Before coming to you I found it hard to communicate with others my needs and boundaries and always viewed certain situations in my life negatively. This meant I was causing myself pain and conflict as I was living with a very negative mindset. Through your sessions, you gave me many different techniques that I can implement daily and not only that, but you always allowed me to express myself fully without any judgement. You offered supportive suggestions and sympathised with my situation whilst giving me helpful techniques to support me in all areas of my life like in work, relationships and with my own mental health. I now live a more positive life, I definitely still have my moments but after using a variety of your different techniques I have been able to first notice my thought patterns and then positively change these before becoming reactive. I can now speak freely about my emotions and use my voice to set boundaries so that I can support myself and my own needs. I can’t thank you enough for everything you have done and for all those hours listening and guiding me along in my journey. You have been amazing. Thank you ! KS, Gold Coast

Karin is a mature, insightful and empathic person which makes her a natural and exceptional psychotherapist. I’ve been in therapy with her now for a little over a year and it has been a powerful process. I’ve come to understand myself with greater clarity and this is helping me step into being my strength and enjoying life more. I feel happier in myself as a result and more accepting of my limits. Karin has an amazing Toolkit filled with modalities, techniques and wonderful exercises that she accesses readily in response to whatever I’ve brought to therapy. This has created a varied and exciting journey of healing and growth. I would recommend Karin’s work to anyone looking for an intuitive psychotherapist with a spiritual orientation and lots of supportive life experience and skill. JC, Yamba

Karin is empathetic and sensitive and made me feel comfortable talking to her. I have been able to talk about things that I’ve never talked to anyone about, or was even cognitively aware of before. I started with counseling because of emotional challenges in adjusting to life with disability and have seen a few counselors over the years. I think Karin has been the best for me because she helps me go to depths and also helps me in practical ways. My self understanding is improving as well as the way I react to things, both of which help my relationships and emotional stability. GC, Ballina

How often do you talk to someone on the phone, and even though you have never met them you just know in your heart that this person is a genuinely caring person of good character. For me, at 65 yrs of age, never having opened myself up to anyone about my personal life and problems, after a brief conversation with Karin I knew could confide in her enough to start one on one counseling sessions. I have resolved so many things in my life and will always be grateful to Karin for her help at a time when I really needed it. would highly recommend Karin to anyone in need of professional therapuetic support, or even just a regular good conversation.
